At the end of the day, whether it’s a leader, doctor, other colleague, etc., our patients should always remain top priority. The importance of nursing leaders being perceived as honest, comes with honesty being the best policy (Laskowski-Jones, 2015). As a leader, I believe the traits of trustworthy, good communication, and positive attitude are the most important to me. As a charge nurse, I try my best to have an open communication so that all of my nurses feel comfortable coming to me with whatever and having confidence that I am going to listen and respond appropriately. Being trustworthy is very important to me because trust is everything. Finally, having a positive attitude sets the tone for the unit.
